Shauneen Bell. Artist.

Long Beach, CA

I see art as an evolution of my perception of an ever changing world. I have spent much of my life surrounded by water on boats and islands and am fascinated by the convergence of land and sea. Every season and time of day bring new colors, forms and shadows transforming the canvas. I often paint on my boat, changing the galley into a studio and looking out the porthole for inspiration.

I started painting lessons at a young age. My mother is an artist and father was a cinematographer so the arts were always encouraged. Creativity has been integral to my life. I studied art in college receiving a BFA, emphasis in drawing and painting. I then went on to receive a teaching credential and taught art for 30 years. I am now retired and most happily painting in my studio and plein air.
